CURRENT INFRASTRUCTURE OF VOLOS PORT
For the commercial sector there are four quays in total, one of which is under construction and the first platform of that quay has already been used.
The existing quays have the following dimensions:
Quay No. 1 with an area of 75.000 m2 and dimensions 475 x 153 x 367 m.
Quay No. 2 with an area of 67.000 m2 and dimensions 420 x 100 x 460 m.
Quay No. 3 (Under Construction)
Quay No. 4 or Quay of the Ferry Operator with an area of 14.000 m2 and dimensions of platforms 200 x 70 m.
Apart from the above premises there are supporting spaces in contact with the quays covering an area of 400.000 m2.
The port of Volos has its own rail infrastructure that may be directly linked to the central public network.
The first platform is the terminal of the railway line of Larissa-Volos. Therefore, the port of Volos is connected with almost every country of Europe.
The following equipment is available:
Nine electrically-driven cranes, seven of which are found in the 1st quay and the other two cranes are found in the 2nd quay, for the unloading of containers and other heavy loads with the following details:
Crane No. 1 with a lifting capacity of 16/27 tons x 30/17 m.
Crane No. 2 with a lifting capacity of 6/8 tons x 25/20 m.
Crane No. 3 with a lifting capacity of 6/8 tons x 25/20 m.
Crane No. 4 with a lifting capacity of 6/8 tons x 25/20 m.
Crane No. 5 with a lifting capacity of 6/8 tons x 25/20 m.
Crane No. 6 with a lifting capacity of 6/8 tons x 25/20 m.
Crane No. 7 with a lifting capacity of 6/8 tons x 25/20 m.
Crane No. 8 with a lifting capacity of 16/25 tons x 32/20 m.
Crane No. 8 with a lifting capacity of 32/40 tons x 32/25 m.
Twelve forklift trucks with a lifting capacity of 2, 5 tons, 4,6 tons and 15 tons.
One self-propelled crane with a lifting capacity of 140 tons/4m.
One straddle carrier with a lifting capacity of 35 tons for containers.
One clark for the transport and stowage of containers.
Two elevators of 52 HP and 60 HP respectively.
One excavator of 18 tons/ 125 HP.
GRAIN SILOS FACILITIES
There are grain silos of 15.000 tons with 34 cells of 380 tons, 14 cells of 150 tons and two pylons for loading and unloading with a suction capacity of 150 tons/hour.
